The Gold Top Cup
Each summer we hold the Gold Top Cup - a cocktail competition, held at our Distillery, Bar + Kitchen in beautiful West Dorset, UK.
Entrants compete in regional heats around the world, with the winners from each final invited to the Gold Top Cup. This year, we will be holding this on Wednesday 5 September and Thursday 6 September 2018.
Our aim is to inspire and encourage the best, most inventive and imaginative mixologists to showcase their work across our social media channels during this two-day event.
The deadline for entries is 31 July 2018.
Zero Waste Cocktails, A Food + Drink Pairing
This year, Black Cow presents the Gold Top Cup: zero–waste cocktail, a food + drink pairing.
To enter successfully into the Gold Top Cup, each bartender must develop a dish and cocktail pairing, with the cocktail using the by-product of the dish.
This theme reflects the ethos of Black Cow and our sustainability. Whey has always been the waste dilemma within the dairy industry with excess volumes produced in the cheese making process. Black Cow takes this undervalued by-product and transforms it into a truly superior vodka.

The Final: 5-6 September
The winner of each final either in the UK or internationally will be invited to participate in the Gold Top Cup: zero-waste cocktails, a food + drink paring grand final – producing the cocktail using the by-product of the dish.
Over the course of the two days, the bartenders will enjoy the Black Cow experience, a fishing trip along the Jurassic coast and a stay at Mangerton House nestled in the beautiful West Dorset hills.
The winner of this challenge will be championed as the Gold Top Cup Winner 2018, awarded with this year’s hand-made Gold Top Cup and presented with $1000 prize money.
